Janesville’s downtown has great potential given the location, the beautiful riverfront, the striking architecture and the existing businesses operating downtown. The City of Janesville has dedicated and invested considerable resources to the downtown’s redevelopment and revitalization in order to fully realize that potential.
Between 2004 and 2014, the City has led 52 downtown projects at a cost of approximately $5.5 million. In that same time period, the City’s financial commitment has helped to leverage an additional $1.75 million from other governmental agencies to supplement the cost of these projects, resulting in over $7 million in total public investment targeted in Janesville’s Downtown.
The map below depicts the nearly 15 acres that have been acquired by the City with the intent of redeveloping unused or underused properties to turn downtown Janesville into a vibrant place to do business, live and visit.
